Although it has taken over seven months to accomplish, I am happy to
report that the Utah URI CC has been successful in shipping a container
of food to URI Malawi, Africa. A container is about 80,000 meals.

The food was provided through Feeding Children International, Kid's
Against Hunger packaged the food, Godwin Hlatshwayo at the World Bank
gave technical assistance, Utah URI obtained the duty free permits from
the Malawi Embassy for the food to be received, and the U.S. Military
provided shipment of the food.

It was a long process but our CC learned a lot from the experience if
other CC's wish to take on this type of project.

The U.S. Military dropped the food in Zimbabwe apparently because they
have to little military activity in a Malawi. This meant the food needed
to be transported over ground to Malawi and meant additional delays to
clear customs even though we had a duty free letter.

When we finally thought we had everything worked out, Rev. MacDonald
Semberka who was coordinating the reception of the food in Malawi got
into a terrible car accident.

Fortunately he reports the following good news today:

Dave and all friends,

Thanks for all your prayers and support. I am out of danger now and out
of hospital. Had sustained a deep cut on my hand and my right foot but
the doctors assured me that there wasnt anything serious. I wish to
inform you that the food arrived and we are using it todate.

Peace and blessings to you all.

MacDonald

Though 80,000 meals is just a drop in the bucket for the overall need, we
hope that it will make a difference for Rev. Semberka's village where
some children have already died of starvation this past year.

It is our hope that more URI CC's will consider partnerships with other
African CC's as well.

This is truly good news from our CC that we are pleased we can share.
